Specialising in pest bird exclusion, it is our commitment to provide barriers, repellents and deterrents that are effective, economical , long lasting and humane.BIRDS ARE CREATURES OF HABIT
Successful bird control requires effort. It depends on carefully following the techniques and directions relative to the bird control method that is being employed.Jaydex's reputation for reliable bird control is important to us and generally if a failure occurs it can be traced down to one or more of five installation errors:
- Incorrect installation procedure; not following direction
- Insufficient Nixalite applied.
- Stretching measurement distances between rows of Nixalite
- Not protecting the areas form above with Nixalite, so that the birds cannot land and drop nesting material onto the Nixalite.
Pigeons are "people watchers" and like places that are flat where they can observe. They prefer to build their nests in spots where it is difficult for humans to reach.
Sparrows like to build nests in any small opening, such as gaps between gutters and roofs. They are experts at finding construction flaws. Watch for them in protected corners and higher portions of gable ends. These small birds are aggressive and persistent.
Starlings fly toward higher areas and corners. They prefer to nest in snug sheltered areas, such as window shutters, eaves and gable ends. They are the most aggressive and determined of all pest birds. The indications that they have been there at an earlier time are the white vertical streaks that they leave.
Study the building, sign, statue, whatever, carefully to see where the birds are landing, rooting and nesting. When Nixalite is installed at these places, they may move to other locations necessitating additional Nixalite.
Special care and ingenuity are needed when doing an installation on areas that are well protected from the wind, rain or air currents. This is especially true if these areas are warm. All ledges must be thoroughly covered, protecting inside corners with wall installations of Nixalite, as well as the flat areas. Consider parallel and perpendicular row installations.
Similar to dogs, the scent of bird manure encourages the birds to come back to their old roosts. The pest birds will fight hard to retain their former haunts.
When an installation is new a small amount of persistence cleaning maintenance may be required for the first few weeks, due to one or two birds that are extremely stubborn. They may try to grasp the pongs of the Nixalite in an attempt to fill it up with nesting debris. Occasionally this happens. Should it occur, immediately remove and debris from the Nixalite. It may be necessary to clean it three or four times before the stubborn birds move out for good.
Plan your installation carefully. Nixalite is a significant property investment that will provide protection form the birds for many years. It pays for itself in just one year by reducing maintenance, cleaning and building deterioration costs. Nixalite is your insurance policy against pest birds.
TRUTHS AND CONSEQUENCES
WHEN COST DICTATES DOING AN INSTALLATION IN STAGES, WHY MUST EACH PART BE DONE THOROUGHLY?
If you skimp on Nixalite or try to stretch distances, it is false economy. It defeats the purpose and serves to create new areas for the birds. If the areas is not completely covered the birds will fly right over the Nixalite landing behind it and covering it with debris. Using insufficient Nixalite or installing it improperly gives poor results.WHEN BIRDS HAVE NOT BEEN INHABITING THE AREA, WHY SHOULD ALL LANDING PLACES ABOVE THE PROPEOSED INSTALLATION ALSO BE COVERED WITH NIXALITE?
Birds fight to retain their old roosts! Sometimes the birds will drop themselves down form above trying to get close to the building for warmth. They will drop sticks and other nesting material on the Nixalite if they can land above it. If this happens immediately remove the debris from the Nixalite and cover the above areas. Birds landing above a Nixalite installation have been know to deposit enough droppings in a period of 4 to 6 weeks to cover the Nixalite and build nests in their own filth.DO PROTECTED CORNERS NEED SPECIAL ATTENTION?
Yes! Small birds will hover over a horizontal installation tyring to cover the Nixalite with debris so they can roost in the corners again. A row of Nixalite applied on the vertical surface about 7 inches above the horizontal row or rows helps solve this problem. An alternate method is to make a Nixalite screed.WHY MUST ALL BIRD DROPPINGS, DIRT, ETC., BE REMOVED FROM SURFACE BEFORE INSTALLING NIXALITE?
The effectiveness of Nixalite if hampered when installed over bird filth. Birds are similar to doges, they return to the dirt of their own kind. Always make certain that the areas is well cleaned with a good, strong cleaning solution.WHY MUST NIXALITE EXTEND OVER THE EDGE?
Generally, birds light on the outside edges. It gives them a place to grasp the building with their claws. Small birds will try to grasp the edge under the Nixalite if it isn't installed so that the points extend at least 1/4" over the sides with the longer prongs extending 1/4" over the exposed ends.WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CUSTOMISE NIXALITE?
Letting Nixalite flop around or hang loose cover the edge gives the birds additional places to land and compounds the problem. Always fit and cut Nixalite to the correct length and attach properly. Cut so that longer prongs are at the end. Jamming pieces of Nixalite together, intermeshing the prongs forms a solid surface giving the birds firm footing. To avoid a solid surface, thin Nixalite in the lower circle curve, where the points come together.EFFECTIVE INSTALLATIONS DO NOT JUST HAPPEN …THEY ARE PLANNED !
